Happy Mother's Day

The day after Andrew's birthday party was Mother's Day (it was a very busy weekend). We celebrated with Dan's family with a brunch at our house. Unfortunately, I have no photos to recap that gathering or the delicious food (thanks, Let's Dish!). In the evening, we went over to my parent's house for dinner. Dan tried to capture a few cute photos of me with my boys. Not too bad...

After dinner, the boys had fun playing in my parent's basement.

Cousin Matt joined us for dinner and I finally realized what his beard and mustache reminded me of...... the Amish. Do you agree?

Birthday Celebration

On Saturday, May 7th, we celebrated our little monkey's 2nd birthday with friends and family. The skies threatened rain on and off throughout the day. But luckily the rain held off until the very end of the party, so were able to enjoy much of the party outdoors.

The theme this year was monkeys, so I found these cute cupcakes online and copied them. A few people snickered when they realized they were banana cake. The kids enjoyed playing a modified version of "Hot Banana", coloring a monkey picture and jumping on the moonbounce.

Just a few other fun photos from the birthday party.....

Day Out with Thomas

In early May, the boys and I picked up Dan from the office early one Friday afternoon to head up to Baltimore for an "adventure". We did not tell the boys where we were going, so they were excited when we pulled into the parking lot at the B&O Railroad Museum to enjoy a special event, "Day Out with Thomas".

We took Nathan to two of these events up in Strasburg, PA, but this was Andrew's first experience and our first experience in Baltimore. The boys enjoyed saying hi to Sir Topham Hatt.

But of course, the highlight of the day was our train ride. Here comes Thomas pulling into the station.

Tickets, please!

It was a beautiful spring afternoon. So the boys also enjoyed some playtime on the playground at the museum, as well as the moonbounce and other fun activities that were set-up for the event.

Since it was such a beautiful evening, we decided to head over to the Inner Harbor for dinner and drive home after rush hour traffic settled down. Nathan begged and begged for a ride on this boat. But finally, we offered to take his picture with it and told him that "maybe next time" we could take a ride on it.

Andrew turns 2!

I don't know how it's possible, but on May 5th, our baby boy turned 2! We celebrated with dinner at Baja Fresh (in honor of Cinco de Mayo) and a special treat from Milwaukee's Custard.

Andrew is our little ham. Somehow, he is just cute and funny (most of the time). He is talking so much, almost as much as Nathan. We are amazed at some of his vocabulary, which includes things such as "DSi", Star Wars, Legos, Shoot, etc. But I guess when you have an older big brother you are trying to keep up with, you just grow up faster. He is also the most adorable little thing riding his scooter. He still loves his Elmo and blanket and still loves his sleep. I am most amazed when he asks to go night-night. Nathan never, ever did that. He is starting to assert his independence these days, so we are experiencing some tantrums here and there. But most days he is easily redirected and very easygoing. Happy Birthday Andrew!

Cubbies Comes to an End

Last Wednesday we celebrated the end of AWANA Cubbies with Nathan. Here's a photo of Nathan with the rest of his class preparing to sing a song for all of the parents.

Since September, Nathan memorized approximately 24 bible verses and earned all of his patches for the year. We are so proud of him and his accomplishments this year. We pray that the Truths in these verses will guard his heart.

Picnic at the Playground

While Dan was out of town, we spent Saturday evening with the Korsvalls at Clemyjontri Park(minus Eric who was coincidentally out of town the same weekend) . It was a gorgeous evening and the kids had a ton of fun climbing and playing.

The kids also enjoyed a picnic dinner of PBJ sandwiches, milk and fruit.

Soccer Photo Day

After several weeks of dreary, wet, drizzly Saturday soccer practices, we finally had a sunny Saturday for soccer. The good news was that the first sunny Saturday of the season was picture day. Here's Nathan with his teammates and Coach Edwin. The bad news is that the head coach is not in the photo. Dan volunteered to be head coach for Nathan's soccer team this year, but unfortunately, picture day was the weekend he was out of town.
