One More Trip to Deep Creek Lake

Well, we finally got lucky with our third trip to Deep Creek Lake over MLK weekend. There was snow and quite a bit of it! YEAH! So the boys were able to ride their new "snowmobile" and they absolutely LOVED it!

Lucy was not as big a fan.

My parents also came with us this time and we went tubing with Dan's parents while Dan and Andrew rested back at the house.

Deep Creek Lake can truly be a winter wonderland of fun when the weather cooperates!

New Years Weekend at Deep Creek

After a few days back at home, we drove back to Deep Creek Lake to spend New Years weekend with the Hills and Korsvalls. Again, we hoped to spend the weekend sledding and playing in the snow, but unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate again. The little bit of snow you see in this picture quickly melted away.
So instead we had fun exploring the playground and riding the Mountain Coaster at Deep Creek Lake (although Andrew opted out of the coaster this trip).

One afternoon during naptime, Eric, Dan, Nathan and Emilia headed back to the mountain to tube on the man-made snow. The kids had a blast tubing with their dads!

Back at the house, the kids had lots of fun going on a Nature Walk and climbing on the rocks.

We also visited the Simon Pearce factory to watch the craftsman and his apprentice blow glass. Though I think the kids found snack time more interesting.

We also stopped in at the Nature Center and were lucky enough see them feed the snakes (gross) and have the chance to pet one (yuck). And of course, we had a fun New Years celebration.

Happy 2012!

Christmas at Deep Creek Lake

After opening gifts and eating breakfast, we hopped in the van and drove to Deep Creek Lake to celebrate with Dan's family.
We missed spending the holiday with Ethan and Aunt Mindy (Ethan was sick), but the kids had a blast playing with all their gifts.

And Andrew liked playing with Isabelle's gifts too!

We had hoped for some snow so the kids could test their new snowmobile sleds, but unfortunately the weather did not cooperate.
But we did have a chance to head over to Wisp to play on the playground, ride the Mountain Coaster and do some ice skating.

Andrew decided to try the Mountain Coaster for the 1st time. What a brave boy!

And Nathan loved the challenge of skating for the 1st time.
