After a great week in Orlando (more to be posted from our trip later) and a quick weekend at home, the boys headed off to school this morning. Nathan will be in 1st grade at Liberty Elementary School and Andrew will be starting preschool at Discovery Station Learning Center. Both boys were very excited about meeting new friends and checking out their new classrooms. Nathan is not looking forward to homework, but he is excited for P.E. Andrew couldn't wait to show Daddy the little potty in his classroom. It's been a good morning. I hope the boys are just as happy at the end of the day!

Birthday Olympics
At the end of July, we celebrated our friend, Emilia's 5th birthday with an amazing Olympic themed party. After making their flags, the birthday girl led her team of champions in for the opening ceremonies. The kids had tons of fun competing in a bunch of events and then splashing in the water to cool down.
We feasted on a variety of international foods and donuts in lieu of cake. YUMMY!
Go Jump in a Lake
We squeezed in another quick trip to Lake Anna at the beginning of July. It was a hot one, but we all stayed cool in the water. And the boys had a blast jumping, jumping, jumping!
4th of July
It was an extremely hot day, but we enjoyed an outdoor concert on the 4th with my parents, Aunt Carol and Uncle Sam (until the thunderstorm blew in). Well... maybe we'll get to enjoy some fireworks next year.
Summer Fun at Deep Creek Lake
The last weekend of June, we spent a long weeked at Deep Creek Lake. We always have a fun time at the lake, but this weekend was memorable in an unusual way. On Friday night, we were enjoying a picnic dinner at the outdoor concert in Oakland. When around 8 pm, out of nowhere,..... this huge storm blew in and had us running to our cars! The "Derecho" of 2012 which has made Andrew terrified of thunderstorms. We ended up spending the rest of the weekend without power or running water, but as you can see, this didn't slow us down. But luckily.... you can't smell us through the photos. :)
We stumbled upon this gem of an event at Wisp Resort. It was the Eastern Regional Finals of Dockdogs. It was amazing how far these dogs could jump!
Retirement Celebration
While the boys enjoyed the party at the farm, I was busy with last minute preparations to celebrate my mom's retirement from Fairfax County Public Schools. We gathered for a delicious lunch at Ciro's Ristorante and had fun learning about some of the things my mom has done so far in her lifetime and providing suggestions for things for her to do with all of her free time in the future!
Birthday Fun on the Farm
The next weekend, Dan and the boys enjoyed another beautiful June morning celebrating Laura's 4th birthday at Great County Farms.
