Super Sandcastles

One showcase of the Virginia Beach Neptune Festival is an international sand sculpting competition - featuring entries from professional and amateur contestants. On Saturday afternoon, we took a hike down the beach to check it out.

The sculptures were simply amazing! When we used to think of "sand castles," it appears that we were setting our sights a little too low ...

In addition to traditional castles, Neptune made many appearances in the displays.

Inspired by the work of international master sculptors, we thought we would head back to our section of the beach and give it a try ourselves ...


One thing we learned right off the bat - don't build your castle too close to the ocean ...
