Happy Birthday Isabelle!

On Saturday morning, we were up bright and early to head down to Charlottesville for Isabelle's 3rd birthday. She is crazy about Ariel, so her party was an Under the Sea theme. After decorating their crowns with various jewels,Carter and Nathan showed off their creations.
Isabelle loved her Ariel cake, especially the icing! She got lots of great presents, but her Eric doll seemed to be the favorite.
After a fun weekend of playing and visiting, Nathan crashed on our drive home (so did Andrew and I). Thanks to Dan for staying awake enough to get us all home safely.

Bowl America

It was Sunday and Victoria (a/k/a Aunt Toria) was visiting from NYC and we wanted to get together and do something. Unfortunately, it was raining again, so we had to find something indoors that could entertain a wide range of ages. So... we tried bowling.

We all had a lot of fun and Nathan's high score was a 72. The bumpers were up, so that eliminated the gutter balls for Nathan (and the adults too!).

We even had the fun surprise of running into Cousin Matt who was at the bowling alley for his Sunday night league. He averaged just over 200 for the night (and that's playing without the bumpers!) Good job!

I Scream, U Scream

We all screamed for ice cream at Clara's 3rd birthday! On Saturday, we went over to the Hills house to celebrate. Nathan had fun making an ice cream cone craft.
In between activities, the boys posed for a photo......Little Anna woke up from her nap to enjoy the party as well.....Clara did an excellent job of blowing out her candles before digging into her yummy sundae, which she topped with Reeses Pieces multiple times.

Emilia and Nathan enjoyed chocolate sundaes with lots of yummy toppings.
This party was YUMMY!!!!!

Cleaning out the Fridge

Ahhh..... what a relief to finally take a few minutes to dispose of the pharmacy that was starting to overtake our refrigerator! Needless to say, our family has been keeping the doctors and pharmacies in business this winter. Let's see, Andrew has had 5 ear infections and multiple respiratory/wheezing issues caused by cold viruses. Nathan has had 1 ear infection and of course, the broken wrist. But on January 8th, Andrew had a minor procedure to put tubes in his ears. So hopefully we won't be seeing any antibiotics in this house for awhile!

Wahoowa!

The boys sported their orange and blue gear yesterday for no particular reason.....

perhaps with a new football coach, there will be more incentive to wear it in the fall!

Nathan's 1st Movie

This past Saturday afternoon, Nathan enjoyed watching his 1st movie in a movie theater, "Thomas and the Runaway Kite". The closest theater showing the movie was the Carmike Cinema at Apple Blossom Mall in Winchester, VA. So after soccer class, we loaded up the mini-van and drove out to Winchester. Despite having just finished our lunch at Chick-fil-A, Nathan had plenty of room for popcorn.

Andrew on the other hand was in a chatty mood, so he spent quality time with Dan and I in the lobby while the movie was playing.
After the movie, Dan and I then enjoyed a peaceful and beautiful ride home along Route 50 while the boys napped. It is kind of amazing how rural Virginia is just a few miles West of where we live.

Nathan Returns to the Field

After breaking his wrist on Halloween and taking some time off for the holidays, Nathan returned to his soccer class this past Saturday at the Dulles Sportsplex. He had a fun time and he did a great job following the coach's instructions!

Pump it Up Party

On Saturday morning, we headed to Jack's 4th birthday party at Pump It Up in Leesburg. This is this 3rd indoor bounce place we've been to, but the 1st time to Pump It Up. I was really impressed with the facility and of course, all of the kids had a blast. Here's Nathan whizzing down one of the slides.....

.... Andrew enjoying his fingers, as usual.....

and the whole birthday crew posing before pizza and cake.

The Little Engine that Could

Saturday afternoon we bundled up (boy it was cold and windy) and headed across the river to Maryland. We had purchased tickets to see "The Little Engine that Could" at the Adventure Theater in Glen Echo Park. For our little train enthusiast, there wasn't a more perfect story for Nathan's first experience seeing a play.

Nathan was able to sit through the entire 50 minute show, but Andrew only lasted about 10 minutes. After the show, Nathan took a photo with the Red Dress Doll and also got her autograph. Nathan is already asking to go back when the Adventure Theater performs "If you give a Pig a Pancake." So we'll be back for that show next summer and also to explore the park some more.

The 1st Annual Frostival

On New Years Day, we met the Korsvalls at the Dulles Expo Center to check out Frostival. Frostival is basically an indoor festival complete with rides, moonbounces, crafts, food, facepainting, a balloon artist, concerts (we saw Rocknoceros) and puppet shows.
Andrew was not quite the biggest fan..... but as I found out a few days later.... his ear drum ruptured, so he probably had an ear infection and was uncomfortable. It was a great indoor family fun event for the winter. We'll be back next year and maybe we'll have more pictures as our batteries died and we did not have any back-ups :( .
