2013 Opening Day

Late last week we realized that the Opening Day Game at Nats Parks was on Monday, which was also a teacher work day for Nathan.  So after rearranging Dan's work calendar a bit and grabbing some tickets off StubHub, we were able to all head down to DC for a fun afternoon at the ballpark.  It was an exciting game with Bryce Harper scoring the only two runs of the game with two solo home runs!  The weather got a little windy and chilly in the middle of the game, but we enjoyed the warm sun as we arrived and left the ballpark.

Go Nats!  We'll be back later in the season, now that we all have our Nats shirts to show our support!

Happy Easter!

On Sunday, we rose bright and early to attend the 7:45 service to celebrate this special holiday - for Jesus is Risen indeed!  After a very lively church service, we headed home for some egg hunting.

This was one of our favorite heading spots.  The orange egg was picked up quickly.  But the blue, yellow and green eggs were left behind until Dan and I provided a little guidance.

Most of our eggs were filled with puzzle pieces this year and some with coins.  So we all worked together to put together this fun puzzle.  Though all 4 of us had to go back to the basement and search for the missing egg which held the last 3 puzzle pieces.
After some fun at home, we headed to Aunt Carol's house for an delicious Easter lunch.  We were stuffed!

Easter Egg Fun

To be honest, coloring and decorating Easter eggs in our house has not been an annual tradition.  It seemed like too messy of a project and since my boys don't really seem to enjoy the crafty projects I've tried to do in the past, it just didn't seem worth the effort.  Well this year, I saw a cute kit at Target and decided we'd try it.  But.... I still wasn't brave enough to tackle it on my own.  So over Nathan's spring break, we worked on this project with Grammy.

And to my surprise, it was a pretty quick project with little mess.  The boys really seemed to engage and enjoy it and the results were adorable!
