Our 1st Family Hike

Saturday morning we decided to try something new.... a hike.  The boys were super excited.  So we headed across the Potomac River to Maryland to check out the Billy Goat Trail.  It wasn't quite a peaceful hike (the boys had about 450 questions), but it was beautiful and good exercise.  Nathan and Andrew absolutely LOVED climbing the rocks and were so bummed each time the trail returned to dirt.

While Dan and I were a little stunned when we reached this point in the hike, the boys couldn't have been more excited.  Luckily, we were headed up this rock incline and not down.

But the boys (our little American Ninja Warriors in training) scaled it with ease!

We reached a mid-point and decided it was time to head back to the car along the canal path, since it was past lunch time and we were out of snacks.  Suddenly the boys were tired and "couldn't" walk the mile back along the flat (aka "boring") path.  :)  But we eventuallly made it and decided to stop at the information desk to get a map, so we could plan our path for a future hike.  As we read through the map, we noted that we completed a little over half of Section "A" which is the only trail with the rating "Difficult" and description stating "visitors.. with small children.. should consider other trail hiking options."  OOPS!   I guess you are supposed to stop at the information desk before your hike and not afterwards.  I have a feeling after this hike, the boys may be quite disappointed with the "easy" and "moderate" options.

Lake Anna with Cousins

Two weekends ago we headed back to Lake Anna in hopes of better weather so we could really enjoy the water activities.  The weather on Saturday was overcast but warm enough and Nathan and Andrew were extremely excited Carter, Isabelle and Ethan could join them for the day to slide, paddle, splash and play.

We even got Lucy in for a few minutes for some "water therapy" to rebuild some muscle tone.

Sunday was definitely a sunnier day, but the air was much cooler and quite breezy (it kind of felt like fall).  Nathan tried again to water ski, but wasn't quite successful.  Maybe he'll get up Labor Day.  Stay tuned......

Last Day in Florida...

After packing up and saying goodbye to the Jevecs, we spent a few more hours at the Magic Kingdom before heading to the airport for our evening flight home.  Both Andrew and Nathan were selected to participate in this short show with Captain Jack Sparrow, but Andrew got a little spooked part way through and rejoined us in the audience.

Whhhheeeewww.  That was a long, fun but exhausting week with many great memories!

Okay... mission accomplished.  I had to finish blogging about last year's vacation before heading off on vacation this summer.  :)

Something different.... a water play day!

For this first time, we checked out one of Disney's waterparks, Typhoon Lagoon.  We weren't really sure what to expect, but the park was amazing!  Spacious, plenty of seating areas and shade and lots of fun things to do for all ages and swimming levels.

For our last evening today together, we stuffed ourselves with Teppanyaki and then topped off with ice cream sundaes at Ghiradelli's at Downtown Disney.  YUM YUM!

The Magic Kingdom

Up next... a full day of fun at the Magic Kingdom.
