Charlottesville Champs!

This past Saturday, Dan and our sister-in-law, Mindy, completed the Charlottesville 10 - Miler.  It is a challenging course with lots of hills.  We are so proud of them!

P!NK Rocked!

All I can say is......... BEST. CONCERT. EVER.  P!NK was amazing!!!  She is an awesome singer and acrobat.  We can't wait for her next tour.

Snow Day in March

The boys waited all winter for some snow to play in.  But once March rolled around we figured we would have to wait until next winter.  Then good old mother nature dropped this wet slushy surprise!  It wasn't the best snow to play in (super, duper wet) and it was pretty much all gone the next day, but the boys managed to have some fun shovelling, sledding and building.  And it took a couple of days for their boots to dry out!

Running in Tampa

Last weekend, Dan manned the homefront solo while I headed to Tampa with my friend, Dana.  We enjoyed a very relaxing weekend reading, lounging by the pool, eating, sleeping and shopping.  But it wasn't all so restful.  On Sunday morning, the alarm started beeping at 4:30 a.m. so we could get up and ready for the Gasparilla Half Marathon.  Just a short walk from our hotel was the start line and we kicked off our run at 6:10 a.m.  The climate was tough.  It was warm (already 70 degrees at 6 am) and extremely humid (my phone said 100%).  Luckily the sun stayed tucked behind the clouds for the 2nd half of our run and we crossed the finish line (without stopping to walk).  Dana finished her 1st half marathon in 2 hours 19 minutes and I finished my 3rd half marathon in 2 hours 20 minutes.  Hurray for us!

Outings with the Boys

On President's Day, Dan and I spent some one on one time with the boys again.  This time it was my turn with Nathan and it was parent's choice of where to go.  I did not tell Nathan where we were going and I have to be honest, when we pulled in the parking lot and he read the sign, he started to cry.  But he rebounded and we had a good time making 4 meals together.  But clearly his favorite part was the free snacks (he sampled one of everything - twice!)  Although he still won't admit that he had a fun time, he is very proud to say that he helped me make the meals when I've cooked them for dinner.
While Nathan and I dished, Dan and Andrew played at Chibis Playground in Ashburn.  It looks like Andrew had a great time on his outing as well!

Walking the Plank at Nathan's 7th Birthday

For his 7th birthday, Nathan wanted to have a swim party.  So some of Nathan's favorite mateys joined us for a splashing good time at Cub Run RECenter.

After changing into some dry clothes, we headed upstairs to the party room for some Pirate Paaarrrrty fun!

Say "AAARRRRRGH!"
Then we headed home to open his treasures and celebrate some more with family.

Ahoy!  I must say, ye party was a success!

Nathan Turns 7!

On February 15th, our Nathan turned seven!  It is really hard to believe how fast the years have gone by!  But as the saying goes, the days (or at least some of them) have been long. ;)   Nathan is excelling in first grade.  He is still a very curious kid with lots of questions and thoughts.  For dinner this year, Nathan wanted to celebrate with dinner out at Benihana.  He was happy to share his birthday event with his Gramma who celebrated her birthday just 3 days before his.

Valentines Day Fun

We don't usually make a big fuss over Valentines Day.  But as the only girl in this house, it's a welcome excuse for pink to be an acceptable color.  (Notice:  the boys have pink cups and did not complain!) We started off the day with some yummy pink pancakes, strawberries, chocolate whip cream and blueberry/banana smoothies.

This was a pirate ship Valentine box that Nathan and I made for school.  Don't be too impressed.  It is a kit that we modified to work with the box.
Dan was extra sweet to me this year.  In addition to these beautiful flowers, he "surprised" me with pink treats throughout the day followed by tickets to see P!NK in concert next month.  Unfortunately, I am nearly impossible to surprise so I knew about the tickets for about a month - but it is still is an extra special outing that I am looking forward to!
