Happy Halloween!

This year we stepped it up a notch with our Halloween decorations... and I even had some help with Nathan setting up the decorations.
After dinner, Dan and I took our Stormtrooper and Ninja Turtle out for some trick or treating.

While we were out, Grammy Witch, Aunt Carol and Pop Pop handed out the treats at our house.

Trunk or Treat

This year I participated in my fifth Trunk or Treat event at Discovery Station, reusing my witch costume from a few years ago.  I really enjoy this event, but having it on Halloween afternoon made for quite a full day!
Check out some of the other fun vehicles that participated......

Pumpkin Carving

For the first time, we decided to carve pumpkins with the boys and one of their friends.  At first, there were a few groans about cleaning out the insides, but that didn't last long.  They LOVED it and only needed a little bit of help and guidance from Dan and me.

As you can see, their pumpkins turned out great!

A few nights later, we carved four smaller pumpkins and here are all of our pumpkins lit up for Halloween:

Ticonderoga Farms

Somehow we ended up with some free time one Sunday afternoon.  It was slightly breezy, but  still a  beautiful fall day so we decided to visit Ticonderoga Farms.  It ended up being a really fun and relaxing family afternoon..... just what we needed after all of the busyness of the last few weeks (months) and in the coming weeks....

Our little "ninja warriors"  spent quite a bit a time on the tires course.

Raingutter Regatta

At the October pack meeting, Nathan participated in the Raingutter Regatta with his camouflage boat.  Dan and Nathan had a fun time painting the boat and Nathan took home 1st place out of all the Bears!

Hersheypark

After the run and a delicious lunch at the Tomato Pie CafĂ©, we spent the afternoon and evening at Hersheypark. Our little "Reeses" and not so little "Twizzler" were eager to get into the park.

We were so impressed with Andrew.  Two years ago, this swing terrorized him.  But this year, he LOVED it! And he also LOVED some of the smaller roller coasters and other rides.  We were so proud of him for stepping out of his comfort zone.

It may have been a quick trip, but it was a great time with our friends!

Hershey Half Marathon

In mid-October, we squeezed in a super quick trip to Hershey with our friends.  We arrived on Saturday night just in time for bed.  On Sunday morning, Dan and Eric were up early for their 13.1 mile chilly run in the wind.  Here's the cheering section....

And here's the runners...

Great job guys!

It's Wild at Woodys

After a rain out this past summer, we were finally able to squeeze in a round of mini-golf after church one Sunday.  It's quite a fun and wild course, but ....be on the lookout for these Wild Beasts.

OctoberBlast

In lieu of camping, Andrew and I opted to stay home (good choice, I think).  In addition to Andrew's flag football game and some standard weekend stuff, we were able to squeeze in a visit to OctoberBlast, a fun fall event organized by Providence Academy.  Here's Andrew with his favorite antique car.....
and this contraption, was by far, his favorite activity.

Camping with the Scouts

The first weekend of October, Dan and Nathan went camping out in Luray with the cubscouts for two nights.  The first night it rained (quite a bit) and the second night it got really cold.  Despite the less than favorable weather conditions, they had a blast hiking, playing, learning about rocks, touring Luray Caverns and staying warm around the campfire.

What an exciting game!

We decided to take a trip to DC for the Nationals' last game of the regular season.  It was a beautiful day and it turned out to be a VERY quick game.  The Nats beat the Marlins 1-0 and the game ended with an incredible diving catch by left fielder Steven Souza Jr. With the help of this amazing catch, Jordan Zimmermann became the first pitcher in Nationals history to throw a no-hitter! It sure was an exciting day to be at Nationals Park!
