Celebrating at Cox Farms

On Saturday, we had a really great time at Cox Farms with our friends celebrating Anna's 4th birthday and Julia's 1st birthday.  With so much to do (hayride, rope swing, slides, slides and more slides) and a cool day, no one wanted to the party to end!

Julia ate her cupcake like a champ!  It was adorable.

The bus in the corn maze was a big highlight.  The kids must have gone through 5 times.  Once was enough for me!

Godparents

Dan and I recently became Godparents for our sweet little nephew, JP, at a small private celebration.  We look forward to sharing God's love with JP and helping him to learn all about Jesus.

70th Birthday Celebration - Part II

Pat's main gift was a trip to the Nats game on Sunday complete with birthday wishes on the scoreboard.  It was a beautiful afternoon at the ballpark and what could be better than a big win by the Nats, 11 - 2, to celebrate!

70th Birthday Celebration - Part I

Dan's dad turned 70 this past weekend and we had a fun time celebrating.  The festivities began Saturday afternoon with a "pool" party with friends and family.  Given the cooler, fall-like weather, we nixed the pool part, but had a fun time catching up and grilling out.

Another trip to Fairfax Surgical Center

Last Thursday, we visited the Fairfax Surgical Center for the 4th time.  This was Andrew's 2nd time here, although he doesn't really remember his 1st trip since he was only about one year old then.  Andrew had to have one of the tubes in his ears removed and the hole patched since the tube was being stubborn and was not coming out on its own.  Luckily it was a quick procedure, but he DID NOT like the anethesia mask at all.  But he was fully back to himself by late afternoon.

Down to 2 Wheels!!!

Over the last week, we have taken the training wheels off of Andrew's bike and helping to build his confidence.  He is soooooooooooo proud to be able to ride a two wheeler on his own and we are so proud of him too!  He keeps asking when we can go a long bike ride.  Well.... he needs a little refinement on starting and stopping (and steering for that matter), but soon.

Kicking off Fall Sports

The beginning of school also marks the beginning of falls sports.  This fall, both the boys are trying something different.  Instead of soccer, Andrew is taking a Lil Sluggers baseball class at the Nzone, which is a big "hit" with him.  He's been asking when his baseball class started since June!

And Nathan is trying out Flag Football for the first time.  He is excited to have a few friends on his team and the assistant coach, Coach Matt, was also one of his coaches from baseball last season.  His team won their first game and Nathan made an interception and almost scored a touchdown.  He LOVED it!  We have a feeling he will be playing A LOT more flag football over the years.

Oh, and Nathan received the sportsmanship award for his team at the first game.  Way to go!

Back to School

It's hard to believe, but it is that time of year again.  On Tuesday, Nathan started 2nd Grade at Liberty Elementary and Andrew started his last year of Preschool at Discovery Station.  Both boys were excited to get up and start the day.  I hope this enthusiasm lasts long into the school year.  :)

South Riding Triatholon

For the past couple of years, our neighborhood has hosted a Triatholon.  This year we decided to get the whole family involved, so we signed up to work one of the water stations.  We were up early and at our water station by 6:45 am.  The boys had lots of fun passing out water to the runners and honestly, they were much more helpful than I imagined.  We look forward to finding more ways to serve our community!

Labor Day at the Lake

At last.... a sunny warm weekend at Lake Anna!  We had lots of fun on the dock and in the water, but unfortunately, I forgot my camera. :(  So, once I get copies of my dad's photos, I will update this post with more photos.

Updated on 9/30/2013:  I finally got the photos from my dad and a chance to update the blog.  Andrew had a little bug over Labor Day Weekend, so most of the photos are of Nathan enjoying one last weekend at the lake.  Uncle Matt also got up on skis for the first time in many years!  Great job!
