Vaughan Family Fun: April 2014

Happy Easter!

We started the day celebrating Jesus' resurrection at Reston Bible Church. On the way home, Nathan took this adorable photo of Andrew with my phone.

The boys then "enjoyed" some family photos, followed by an egg hunt and easter basket (or bag as it goes in our house).

Over Spring Break, we ventured to Manassas to check out the Skate 'n Fun Zone. Nathan was a pro on his skates and Andrew had fun using his "walker". We are looking forward to heading back again sometime soon.

GW Parkway Classic

With virtually no training, Dan and I completed a 10 mile race in early April with Matt and Lauren. We ran along the GW Parkway from Mount Vernon to Old Town. It was tough, but felt awesome to complete a long run again. And the bonus.... Matt & Lauren only live a few blocks from the bus pick up spot and finish line, so the logistics were very easy. You can count on us running this race again!

Great Wolf Lodge

With all the snow this past winter, we were thankful to still have our teacher workday at the end of March because we had plans..... a night at Great Wolf Lodge. Nathan LOVED the water slides and Andrew had a blast in the wave pool.

And the sleeping arrangements were a big hit too!

Another Belt Graduation

We are so proud of Nathan. He has been working so hard and was rewarded with his yellow belt in March. Way to go!

1 Already?!?!?

While I was relaxing in Miami, the boys celebrated JP's 1st birthday. What a little cutie in his bowtie!

We're Going to Miami

Well at least I did. To celebrate Brandi's 40th birthday, the five of us gathered in Miami for a beautifully warm and relaxing girls weekend. All I can say is it was an amazing trip! And a little snowstorm at home forced us to stay another night. Poor us, not!

Nathan's 8th Birthday

For Nathan's 8th birthday, we celebrated at TopKick where the kids practiced some kicking and Tae Kwon Do and played some other fun games.

Afterwards, we gathered at home with some family for gift opening! Nathan's favorite part of the day.

Blue & Gold Dinner

In late February, the cub scouts held their annual Blue & Gold dinner. After an amazing magic show and yummy dinner, the boys were excited to receive their hard earned awards.

Skiing - Take Two

On the way home from Deep Creek Lake, we stopped off at Whitetail for some more ski lessons for the boys. Dan and I also rented some skis and enjoyed a few runs down the slopes.

After several days at Deep Creek Lake and a couple of hours on the slopes, the boys are wiped out. Mission complete!

Winter Weekend at Deep Creek Lake

Over President's Day Weekend, we headed to Deep Creek Lake for a snow-filled weekend. Seriously... it snowed almost the whole time we were there! While there, we celebrated Nathan's 8th Birthday. This year we gave him two things he was really wanting.... a snowboard and a shirt & tie.
