Awana Awards Night

Back in February, Nathan started attending the Awana Cubbies program at Shepherd Gate Church near our home. Each Wednesday night, Nathan was so excited to go to his "bible study". Unfortunately, this week was the last week until next Fall. Here is Nathan's whole class singing....
"God is so great, so big and so strong, there's nothing my God cannot do!"

Nathan was grinning from ear to ear and was so excited to perform for us and the rest of the parents. We are so proud of him.

A Night at the Ballpark

On Thursday night, Dan and Eric left work a little early and took Nathan and Emilia to the Nationals game. One highlight of the night was the food and snacks.

The kids were a little disappointed that the Nats did not hit any "homewuns", but it was still a fun evening out for everyone.

Loudoun Soccer Begins

After talking with some parents from Nathan's daycare, we decided to sign Nathan up for Loudoun Soccer. His team meets on Saturdays at 1pm at an elementary school in our neighborhood. Check out how cute he is in his uniform including little shin guards and soccer socks. I got a great deal on the shorts earlier that morning at my first consignment sale! The kids mostly do drills and practice fundamental skills, but end each session with a little scrimmage. Hopefully by the end of the season, the kids will understand which goal they are trying to kick the ball into! :)

Good game! See you next week!

Andrew aka "Dennis the Menace"

At 11 months, Andrew has many nicknames including Bubby, Chubby Bubby, and the newest, Dennis the Menace. Although he still doesn't seem to like the traditional crawl, he has perfected his scoot and can get where he wants to go real fast. I promise to get some video up soon to show the adorable scoot. He is also pulling up on EVERYTHING and likes to climb! But what goes up, must also come down. So, we've had a few tumbles and a few bumps on the head, but he's tough. It's so hard to believe he is almost one year old. Birthday fiesta plans are in full swing!

Easter Day

After church, we came back to our house to find that the eggs that Nathan and Dan had dyed were missing.
Nathan had a blast searching around the basement finding the eggs in all sorts of funny places.

Andrew, on the other hand, had no interest in the eggs. He was on a mission to find one of his favorite things....
the remote control!!! Ahhh.... here it is!

We then proceeded to do a second egg hunt outside. It was such a beautiful day.

This time, Andrew did find an egg in the hose.

After a yummy brunch, we all headed outside to soak up the sun on the deck. If only the weather could be this beautiful each year on Easter!

He is Risen!

He is Risen, indeed! Happy Easter from all of us!

South Riding Egg Hunt

Our neighborhood puts on great family-friendly events throughout the year including an annual Easter Egg Hunt. This was our first year attending, and boy was it another beautiful day!

And they're off........
Despite the 8,000 eggs that South Riding had laid out in the field, when Nathan and Dan emerged from the mosh pit, they had about 5 eggs in the basket. Here are the boys checking out the treats...
Inside two of the eggs were two parachute bunnies. It was such a beautiful day that we decided to walk over to a nearby playground to launch the bunnies.

After playing for awhile, we were getting hungry for lunch. It was so beautiful that we decided to walk over to McDonalds (the closest food option) and bring some lunch back to the playground and have a picnic. As you can see below, we had a little trouble with Andrew's carrots.....

Decorating Eggs

So this year we thought Nathan was old enough to dye some real Easter Eggs. Here's Nathan and Dan hard at work......
Aren't they beautiful? And unbelievably, there was no mess!

The funniest part was that Nathan kept shaking them and was perplexed when he did not hear anything rattle inside. He kept saying "I wonder what's inside?" I guess after a couple years of plastic eggs with little treats inside, he may find these eggs to be rather disappointing.
