Frolicking on the Beach

It's been about a month since I last blogged, so I have lots to catch you up on on. About one month ago, Friday, September 24th to be exact, we packed up the van and headed to Virginia Beach for a long weekend. We had promised Nathan a trip to the beach, but weren't able to fit it in during the summer months. So after looking at the calendar, we settled on this late weekend in September because we figured if the weather wasn't quite good enough to enjoy the beach, then we could enjoy the Neptune Festival.
Luckily, we were able to do both. Saturday was super hot, but the wind took the edge off. We started off the morning climbing on the playground. Afterwards, we claimed our piece of the beach and enjoyed the sand, water, waves and of course, juice and snacktime.

Andrew was not a big fan of the water, but Nathan loved it, especially floating in the waves with Daddy.

As we headed out to grab a bite for lunch, we noticed tons of people lining the streets for the Grand Parade.

We also spent lots of time walking up and down the boardwalk admiring the fun sculptures, as well as all the vendors in town for the festival.
On Sunday morning, in the misty rain, we ended our trip with a family bike ride.
This was our 2nd year spending a weekend at Virginia Beach. We loved both trips and plan to head there again sometime next year. It is very family friendly! Stay tuned for two more posts about other fun parts of our trip.
